Susan began practicing yoga in 2010, drawn to it during a turbulent and transitional time as a way to find balance, strength, and presence both on and off the mat. Over the years she explored Iyengar and other traditions, which laid the foundation for her deeper commitment to practice. In early 2025, she dedicated herself to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, embracing its discipline and transformative power.
Also in 2025, Susan completed her 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training with the Vancouver Island Yoga School under the guidance of Deborah Carruthers, whose valued mentorship helped shape Susan’s grounded and heart-centered approach to teaching. She primarily teaches in the tradition of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, offering a steady and disciplined practice rooted in breath, alignment, and internal focus.
In addition to teaching, Susan shares the uplifting practice of Bhakti Yoga through music and chanting. She plays the harmonium and, with her partner Rick, has been leading Kirtan in the community for the past four years, creating spaces of connection, joy, and heart-opening expression.
Susan believes yoga is for every body—and that it’s not just about stretching. For her, the true gift of a consistent, disciplined practice lies in balancing and toning the nervous system to support vibrant health and overall well-being. She brings a calm, supportive presence to her classes, creating space for students to move with intention, compassion, and authenticity—whether they are new to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga or seeking to deepen their practice.
Susan also assists in managing the studio – from greeting you at the desk to keeping everyone informed what is happening via posters, newsletters and social media.
