Celebrating Diwali

Diwali is the main celebration for Indian people. The festival of lights symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Let us all be keepers of light, sharing love, compassion, and devotion to all forms of light.

Last night, our group members experienced their first oil massage, Abhanga. Stepping out of familiarity to trust in the process. We are learning as a group to stay open to experiences and delight in the gifts. We are thankful for the rain and cool weather, knowing that in a few hours the heat returns as we move through the sensations of the environment with grace.

We are finding rhythm with early morning practice, mid-morning circle time and afternoon posture lab. New students and experienced students are working together, creating a supportive and harmonious environment.

I am relaxed and happy- loving the communion with everyone here.

Today we will go to Anshad’s (staff) home for lunch. He generously offers a traditional lunch each visit. His oldest daughter speaks English well, and she practices with us.

The days are full and fun, with time in the morning and afternoon for downtime, reflection and the occasional nap.

I have been studying spirituality across traditions for a long time, endeavouring to put them into practice.

Living here for a short time is an integration of surrender to the flow of life, softening into life with an open heart and a big smile and enjoying all aspects of this human life.
